MEET OUR PEACOCK GAP GOLF CLUB INSTRUCTORS

Any golfer will undoubtedly tell you that there are few things that feel as good as hitting a great golf shot. It's almost like magic. Practice and swing drills are the key to good shots.

The Teaching Center at San Rafael's Peacock Gap Golf Club, located 25 miles north of San Francisco in Marin County, offers complete, attractive practice facilities and experienced, knowledgeable instructors.
Our Teaching Center is an invaluable resource for golfers at all levels. If you don't have time for a round of golf, grab a bucket of range balls and work on the fundamentals of your swing. If you're looking to step up your game, need a little motivation or just have a question, our pros are happy to assist you in a private lesson. Val Verhunce

Instructor / Class A PGA Professional

Val is currently a Class A PGA Member and head coach for the Sonoma State men's and women's golf teams. His approach is to define a player's physical ability and stature in order to develop the most efficient way of producing a consistent swing, thus helping the player reach his/her goals.

Joshua Willard

Instructor / Class A Australian PGA Member

Josh has been a Class A member of the Australian PGA since 1995. He's worked at facilities around the world, including The Australian Golf Club, Gary Player Golf Academy in Singapore, Singapore Island Country Club, and Golfschule Luftenberg at Linzer Golfclub in Austria. Josh uses the most advanced swing analysis software to help identify problem areas and develop a targeted strategy for each player.

John Grund

Instructor

John, a former UCLA golfer and coach, has competed in the PGA Tour, Canadian Tour, South African Tour, 4 NCAA Championships, U.S. Open, and U.S. Amateur. He has taught extensively since 1994 and several of his students have won amateur and professional events, including the PGA Tour. John is passionate about helping players of all levels achieve their goals and enjoy the game of golf.

Cheryl Lala

Instructor/LPGA Professional

Cheryl Lala played college golf at CAL, is a former professional golfer and coached Men’s and Women’s NCAA Division II golf for 6 years. An LPGA teaching professional, she holds a graduate certification in Exercise and Sports Psychology and believes in a whole person approach to golf instruction including mental skills training, video analysis and proper club fitting.

Will Karnofsky

Will is a PGA Class A professional, US Kids certified and a certified personal trainer. He also trained in therapeutic bodywork, nutrition, yoga, and mindfulness. A golf coach since 1998, Will works with all levels of golfers and especially enjoys those interested in working with the mind-body connection as a way to discover their own unique swing.

Kristin Walla

Instructor

Kristin is an LPGA professional and played D1 College Golf at the University of Texas. She has worked at the Jim McLean Golf Schools with players from all over the country and all skill levels. She played professionally on the LPGA Symetra Tour and is playing in an LPGA Major this summer. Kristin specializes in beginners to advanced players, short game, mental coaching and putting. Her teaching credo is “Golf doesn’t have to be hard.” There are a lot of ways to learn golf, but none as fun as the Walla Way.

Paul Gorman

Instructor - PGA Section Teacher of the Year

Paul began instructing as a member of the PGA in 1996 and has had the privilege to train with the best teachers & players in the world ever since.  Paul's teaching philosophy is "Understanding Complexity, Teaching Simply." He believes that, "No one does everything wrong," and opts to elevate the weaker parts in your game while making sure to keep the good things you already do intact. Paul is an Exclusive Aimpoint Express Putting instructor, a system recently used by Justin Rose in the 2017 Masters. Paul's other certifications include BioSwing Dynamics and Trackman; tools that can be used for all levels of golfers, from beginners to elite players. Paul customizes practice drills & regimens to ensure players have fun and perform at their personal best.
